Philip would've been 80 years old today. The original "passionate ornithologist." There's a reading in San Francisco at City Light Books in honor of Philip that is being arranged by Andrew Joron and Garrett Caples , who will also be reading their verse.

Will Alexander also participated in the City Lights event via speakerphone, reading his poem "The Blood Penguin." Eileen Tabios was also present, reading her own work as well as a poem by Will Alexander. With a curl of incense smoke, Philip's spirit wafted through the air.
